FEATURES: (From the brochure)
Six Synthesis Modes:
Produce an astounding array of different sounds never before
included in one instrument. With the PRISM, you choose from waveshaping,
wave blending, or frequency modulation, each either controlled by volume
envelope or device.
Dynamic Timbre:
Create living, natural sound. Because all six synthesis modes
of the PRISM make use of dynamic timbre, you can define exactly how the
sound changes during the course of a single note.
Fully Programmable Devices:
Customize the PRISM to your own style of playing. You can connect
a pedal, footswitch, slider, thumbwheel, or joystick to parameters you
want to change in real time. These programmable devices help you vary the
music's color or feel during performance.
Quadraphonic:
Choose mono, stereo, or full quad sound. A switching matrix on
the PRISM makes it easy. Music can actually bounce around a room when you
place your sound in any or all four speaker channels and change their location
during performance.
Polyphonic:
Play many instruments simultaneously. The basic PRISM is equipped
with 24 voices and is expandable to 40. One voice produces the sound of
one instrument each time a note is played.
Flexible Keyboard Split:
Place totally different sounds any place on the keyboards. Move
them around at will. It's as easy as pressing two keys. Lights over individual
keys indicate the precise location you've given each sound.
Remote Keyboards and Pedalboards:
Imagine a setup with six keyboards and three pedalboards, in
addition to your main console, being played by ten different musicians
all at the same time! It's possible with the PRISM. Optional accessories
include five-octave (61-note) keyboards and one-octave (13-note) pedal
boards fully compatible with your main instrument.
Unbounded Freedom and Flexibility:
The PRISM is completely digital, polyphonic, and programmable.
Fast, Accurate Communication:
The PRISM provides an easily operated keypad as a link between
you and the entire control panel. It's as simple as using a calculator.
Accessible Sound Library:
The push of a button saves your newly created sounds and effect
directly in from the console. With the PRISM, you immediately have easy
recall access to all preprogrammed and created sounds.
Multiple Wave Creation Techniques:
Three separate tools form your fundamental sonic building blocks.
These prismatic wave-producing techniques include: Additive/Subtractive,
Plot, and Frequency Modulation (FM).
Colorful Sound Generation:
Four unique envelopes - Volume, Timbre, Pitch, and Channel
-
give you complete control over sound generation, its intensity, color,
frequency, and location.
Monophonic Or Polyphonic Portamento:
With the PRISM, you can slide single notes or whole chords in
any direction at adjustable rates.
Precise Pitch Adjustment:
Uniquely, the PRISM is always in tune. You can, however, control
pitch and detuning with two finely adjustable forms of pitch modification
- Micro-tone and Delta-hertz.
Random Sound Modification:
Achieve both highly natural and unusual effects by using the
PRISM's four Random Number Generators. These automatic devices flexibly
operate in much the same way as random sample-and-hold.
Continuous Sound Modification:
Produce such regular, consistent tonal textures as vibrato and
tremolo with the PRISM's four Low Frequency Oscillators. These digital
oscillators follow one of four wave shapes - sine, triangle, ramp, or square.
Two Special Playing Modes:
With the PRISM, you vary your mood or playing style as simply
as pushing the Latch Mode or Solo Mode button. Everything
from polyphonic choral and sustained background effects to monophonic trills
is easily available.
Instant Sound Cutoff:
Control lingering sound immediately with the PRISM's Sound Cutoff
Footswitch. When the music stops, so does the PRISM.
Dependable Roadability:
Rugged shock-absorbent flight cases protect both the PRISM's
electronic enclosure and console when traveling. The custom console case
is optional.
